Be sure to join us September 14-15, for TRANSIT: TAKING INITIATIVE as we unite as an industry during the California Transit Association 45th Annual Fall Conference & EXPO. Californians rely on transit services and have repeatedly supported transit initiatives. This conference offers an excellent opportunity to gather together with your peers to learn, network and bring back ideas and best practices for local services, as well as how to preserve transit funding in California.

Among the highlights at this year's event will be the Plenary Session Political Roundtable Discussion. Veteran Democratic political strategist Darry Sragow and noted Republican advisor Rob Stutzman will handicap the candidate races, and provide you the insight you need to understand the chances for all the measures on the November ballot, including the California Transit Association-sponsored Proposition 22.  (Click here for more details)

Other highlights include:

In-depth tracks designed for your role. We offer Fiscal/Planning & Policy, Marketing, Management & Leadership, Maintenance, and Operations/Human Resources.

Keynote from Kathy Buckley, gifted comedienne, award-winning actress, author, and renowned inspirational speaker. She will share her story of overcoming some of the most difficult obstacles one can imagine.

Networking opportunities throughout the conference. Take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to network with key transit professionals from agencies throughout California.

EXPO showcase, a more efficient trade show. Our EXPO offers the perfect-sized venue to meet with solution providers and view the newest products on the market.

Excellent value, in a new two-day format. We have tightened the agenda and re-worked the program to offer time efficient as well as cost –effective education and networking. Send three representatives and receive a discounted rate or take advantage of the daily rate if you cannot attend the full-conference.

Small Operators Awards

The Small Operators Awards  are presented in two categories: Transit Leadership and Transit Excellence. The Transit Leadership Award is presented to an outstanding individual who has provided strong leadership and vision. The Transit Excellence Award recognizes an outstanding program or service that demonstrates innovative concepts or effective problem-solving techniques, or promotes a positive image of transit in the community.

The 2010 Fall Conference takes place September 14-15 in San Diego. Nominations are now being accepted for both award categories. Click here to download the nomination form. For more information, please contact Association Services Director Amy Lai (amy@caltransit.org).

Jim Ditch Golf Tournament

Once again this year, our annual Fall Conference and Expo will feature a golf tournament fundraiser. This year's event, organized by our friends at Long Beach Transit, benefits the James A. Ditch Education Fund. Jim passed away last year at the age of 62, one year after retiring following a 35-year career in public transit. The last 19 of those came at Long Beach Transit, where he was Executive Director of Maintenance and Facilities.

The tournament takes place Monday, September 13, at Salt Creek Golf Club in Chula Vista. Among the prizes at stake are a custom-made set of golf clubs, a Mexican Riviera cruise and a 42-inch high definition television. In addition, numerous sponsorship opportunities are available.
